Who is responsible

Data controller: University of Geneva — Faculty of Medicine [TO CONFIRM: exact legal entity name & address]. The controller decides why and how your data is processed.

Software provider (processor): Sparkboard, acting only on the controller's instructions to operate this platform. Sparkboard does not use your data for its own purposes.

Sub-processor: Cloudflare (hosting & database), with data stored in the European Union.

What we collect & why

• Your contact details — email, name, role/status, institution, and an optional self-declared city. Used to run the call, let you sign in, and contact you (e.g. about a voucher).
• Your submitted needs — the problem statements you write. Used to build the needs library and shape hackathon challenges.
• Referral links — if you were invited or invite others, we record who referred whom.

We do not collect your IP-based location, and we ask you not to include any patient data or personal health information in a need statement.

Legal basis: your consent, given when you register. You can withdraw it at any time.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data, and you may withdraw consent at any time. To erase your data and leave, use “Request deletion” on your dashboard — a request is reviewed and actioned by the controller. When erased, your identity is removed; anonymized need statements may be retained as non-personal contributions unless you ask for them to be deleted too.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (in Switzerland, the FDPIC; in the EU, your national authority).
